The National Biodversity Centre, Serbithang, MoAF invites sealed quotations from authorized ticketing agents for the following sector as per the terms and conditions specified below:

Terms and conditions:
- The sealed quotation shall be submitted to the National Biodiversity centre, Serbithang, on 1st May, 2014 at or before 2.00 Pm.
- Sealed quotation should be addressed to the Program Director, NBC, Serbithang, MoAF, Thimphu.
- The quotation will be opened on the same day at 2.30 PM. Quotations received after the submission date and time will not be entertained.
- Quotations without sealed envelope will be disqualified.
- The quoted rate should be valid for at least three months.
- The decision of the tender committee will be final and binding.

International Course on Environmental Economics (12 – 16 May 2014)
A five-day intensive course on environmental economics will be offered at the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment from the 12th to 16th May 2014 in collaboration with the Conservation Strategy Fund based out of the US. The course will cover the following topics:
- Micro-economics (1/2 day)
- Environmental economics (2 days)
- Cost-benefit analysis (2 days)
- Best practices in infrastructure policy management (1/2 day)

Seminar on Biodiversity Conventions and National Conservation Initiatives held at Sherubtse
Presentation to the Students 10th March 2014, Kanglung: A seminar on the “International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA), Convention on Biological Diversity, Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing and the Bhutan Biodiversity Portal” took place at Sherubtse College, Kanglung on 10th March, 2014.
The key areas covered in the seminar were: • Biodiversity conservation and sustainable utilization initiatives in the country. • National and international conventions, treaties and legal framework on biodiversity such as the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD),International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) and the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing. • Importance of Traditional Knowledge and its documentation. • Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) and procedure for execution of MTA. • Salient features of the Bhutan Biodiversity Portal.
The seminar is part of the education and awareness series initiated by the National Biodiversity Centre (NBC) to educate and create awareness amongst academic institutions on national as well as international developments in the field of conservation and sustainable utilization of biological diversity. It is hoped that the insights that the students will gain from such seminars will hone their interests and enthusiasm in the field of biodiversity conservation and sustainable utilization.
The seminar was organized by the National Biodiversity Centre (NBC), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests and was attended by more than 200 students and Faculty members of the School of Life Science and Environmental Science of the college.
Students at the workshop
