Every year on 22nd May, the world comes together to celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity. This year’s theme, “Living in Harmony with Nature,” reflects our shared responsibility to protect and cherish the rich diversity of life on Earth.

Welcoming the RTC students

To mark the occasion, the National Biodiversity Centre (NBC) organized a vibrant celebration at the Royal Botanical Garden, Serbithang, joined by a group of enthusiastic environmental students from the Royal Thimphu College (RTC). The students were divided into groups and participated in fun and educational activities such as Biobiltz, and quiz sessions.

Biolibtz allowed the students to explore the different areas of the garden, capturing photos and learning about the diverse plant and animal species that thrive there. The quiz fostered teamwork and deepened their understanding of biodiversity and environmental conservation.

The students had a great experience; not only enriching their own knowledge, but also contributing valuable data to the biodiversity database.

It was a day filled with learning, laughter, and a renewed appreciation for the natural world.
