8th May 2025, Serbithang: Guests from the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) visited the National Biodiversity Centre for a meeting to explore potential avenues for future collaboration in in-situ conservation and genetic study of wild and native biodiversity, including agrobioidversity.

The RSPN guests included:

~ Dr. Swen Renner, Curator at the NHM

~ Dr. Wolfgang Fiedler, Senior Researcher at the Max Planck Institute

~ Dr. Marcela Suarez-Rubio, Senior Lecturer at BOKU University

The discussion focused on strengthening scientific research, enhancing capacity-building programs, and aligning efforts with NBC’s ongoing initiatives. The meeting was part of RSPN’s project titled “Enhancing Ecological Knowledge on the White-bellied Heron and Associated Species,” implemented in partnership with Austria.

Following the meeting, the RSPN team was given a brief tour of NBC’s key facilities, including the biodiversity repositories and genebanks, to showcase the Centre’s work in conservation.
