It is with mixed emotions that the National Biodiversity Centre bids farewell to four valued colleagues who have contributed their service to the organization. While their departure leaves a noticeable gap, we celebrate their dedicated careers and wish them continued success and fulfillment in the next chapter of their lives.

Mrs. Choki Wangmo, Senior Biodiversity Supervisor I, has officially retired following an exemplary career spanning 35 years of dedicated public service across three organizations. She began her professional journey in 1988 as a Laboratory Technician in the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory at the National Agriculture Seed Centre (NASC), Paro. She subsequently served as a Research Assistant at the Renewable Natural Resources Research Centre (RNRRC), Yusipang from 1995 to 1997. In 1998, she joined the National Biodiversity Centre as one of its first staff members since its inception, serving for 28 years in the Plant Genetic Resources Program (PGR) with specialization in seed characterization and evaluation. Her long-standing commitment, technical expertise, and steadfast contributions have left a lasting and significant impact on biodiversity conservation in the country.

Mr. Kezang Tobgay served for more than ten years with distinction, leading the Tree Seed Conservation Project and making significant contributions to plant taxonomic endeavours. His deep expertise, proactive approach, and unwavering commitment played a key role in advancing the Centre’s conservation initiatives. Kezang’s ability to mentor colleagues and his consistent support have shaped our team in many meaningful ways. We will greatly miss his presence and valuable insights, while taking pride in knowing that his knowledge and experience will continue to contribute to greater purposes in the future.

Ms. Tshering Choden, though with us for just over a year, earned the respect and appreciation of the entire team through her quiet dedication, humility, and consistent diligence. She approached every task with sincerity and reliability, demonstrating that steady and thoughtful effort creates lasting value. Despite her relatively short tenure, her positive attitude and dependable contributions have left a favourable impression. We have no doubt that she will continue to excel in her future endeavours.

Mrs. Diku Maya Gurung served diligently for more than eight years as an Animal Attendant under the Animal Genetic Resources Program. She was responsible for the daily care and welfare of on-station animals, and consistently demonstrated reliability and compassion in her role. Her sincere efforts supported the smooth functioning of the AnGR program.
To all four departing members — Mrs. Choki Wangmo, Mr. Kezang Tobgay, Ms. Tshering Choden, and Mrs. Diku Maya Gurung — the National Biodiversity Centre extends its heartfelt gratitude for your valuable service and unwavering commitment.
We wish you good health, happiness, and every success in your future endeavours. May your paths ahead be rewarding and fulfilling.
Thank you for your service!
