14 April 2026, Thimphu: A team from Metazone Ltd., Singapore, led by Mr. Jevan Tan, visited the National Biodiversity Centre (NBC) on April 14, 2026 to explore potential areas of collaboration in biodiversity-based enterprises. The visit was facilitated by the Tarayana Foundation.
During the visit, discussions centered on opportunities to develop a biofuel business through the plantation of Yellowhorn (Xanthoceras sorbifolium) and other promising native oil-yielding species. Such initiatives present significant potential to contribute to alternative renewable energy solutions while also supporting rural livelihoods in Bhutan.
In addition, the team explored avenues to promote and commercialize Pangtse oil, a traditional Bhutanese edible oil known for its nutritional and health benefits. Strengthening its value chain and positioning it as a premium, health-oriented product emerged as a key area of mutual interest.
The visit marks a positive step toward fostering innovative partnerships that align biodiversity conservation with sustainable economic development.
