The final writeshop to prepare the Seventh Report (7NR) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is underway at Lotus Villa, Phuentsholing, from 22 to 26 December 2025. The writeshop brings together members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) from relevant agencies to review, refine, and finalise key sections of the 7NR. The sessions focus on assessing the progress in the implementation of the CBD, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), and the updated Fifth NBSAP.
The workshop is coordinated by the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC), with funding support from the “Umbrella Programme to Support NBSAP Update and the 7th National Report”- a global initiative funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented in Bhutan by the United Nations Development Programme.
This writeshop will be followed by a national consultation in Thimphu before the submission of Bhutan’s Seventh National Report to the CBD Secretariat by February 2026.
