    BIODIVERSITY ACT OF BHUTAN 2022

    National Assembly of Bhutan received the Royal Assent from Druk Gyalpo on the Biodiversity Bill of Bhutan 2021. The National Biodiversity Centre would like to thank the committees of National Assembly and National Council for their efforts to approve the bill for the benefits of the Bhutanese citizens. Also we acknowledge the inputs of MoAF, Legal Division and all others involved in the process.

    National Biodiversity Centre, joins the WFO family as our 50th member.

    NBC is delighted to be the 50th member to the World Flora Online (WFO) representing Bhutan. WFO strives to create an enabling online platform for all the plant species in the world.

    As the Centre believes in open, accessible and free floral data and information, the Centre will be contributing to WFO through the efforts of the Royal Botanical Garden, Serbithang, National Herbarium of Bhutan and Bhutan Biodiversity Portal.

    We would like to thank all the people involved during the process of joining the WFO consortium, especially Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), Dr. Peter Wyse Jackson, Dr. Mark Watson and Dr. Alan Elliott.

    Visit by UNDP Bhutan

    The Centre hosted around 25 member team from UNDP Bhutan and other UN agencies led by Dy. Resident Representative. The team was briefed on overview of the Centre’s function followed by a visit to various genebanks, laboratories, bio-repositories and the botanical garden.
