The National Biodiversity Centre (NBC) is pleased to announce the first confirmed record of the endomychid beetle Trochoideus desjardinsi Guérin-Méneville, 1838 from the Kingdom of Bhutan, as published in the Japanese Journal of Systematic Entomology.

The species was collected from Panbang, Zhemgang Dzongkhag, during a Bhutan–Japan collaborative invertebrate biodiversity survey conducted from 3–15 October 2025 in southern and western Bhutan. The specimen was collected using a light trap at an elevation of 120 m and has been deposited in the Invertebrates Repository of the National Biodiversity Centre, Thimphu.
Trochoideus desjardinsi is a small handsome fungus beetle, measuring approximately 3–4 mm, and is morphologically distinguished by its elongate oval body, pubescent elytra, laterally angulate pronotum, and a strongly thickened antennal club in the male. Although the species is widely distributed across tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, this study represents its first documented occurrence in Bhutan.
