Tree Seed Conservation Techniques Training Workshop in Bhutan

A five- day training workshop on the Tree Seed Conservation Techniques which began on 7th December 2015 is underway at the National Biodiversity Centre, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Serbithang.

Some 20 participants from various agencies under DoFPS (Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park, NRED and Zhemgang Division), Tangsibjii Hydro Energy Limited, Mangde Chhu Hydro Project Authority, National Seed Centre and NBC are participating in the training workshop organized by the NBC with technical support from Millennium Seed Bank, Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew and funding support from Tangsibjii Hydro Energy Limited.

The main objective of this workshop is to provide hands-on training on Wild Seed collection and conservation techniques. It is also in preparation for the Wild Seed Conservation program through seed banking which NBC is embarking on in the 11th Five Year Plan.
