

On 24 March 2026, the National Biodiversity Centre (NBC) welcomed a distinguished delegation of biodiscovery and ethnobotany experts, including Dr. Phurpa Wangchuk from James Cook University, Suzanne Thompson and Graham Ambridge from YACHATDAC, and Gerald Paul Turpin from the Australian Tropical Herbarium.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on Bhutan’s initiatives in bioprospecting and Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS), followed by engaging discussions on potential areas for collaboration. The experts also toured the Bioprospecting Laboratory, where ongoing research activities and product development efforts were showcased.
The visit provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and strengthened international cooperation in promoting biodiversity-based innovation and sustainable utilization of biological resources.
