22 May 2026: On the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity, the National Biodiversity Centre is pleased to announce the winners of the Wild Bhutan Challenge 2026.

The Challenge was conducted from 1 April to 15 May 2026 to promote biodiversity documentation and strengthen citizen science participation across Bhutan through the Bhutan Biodiversity Portal.

The winners for โ€œHighest Number of Observationsโ€ and โ€œMost Identifications Contributedโ€ were directly extracted from the Bhutan Biodiversity Portal based on validated observations and identifications during the challenge period. The โ€œMost Unique Observationโ€ category was selected through expert review and discussion of notable records, while โ€œBest Photographyโ€ was evaluated by a panel based on predefined assessment criteria.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all winners and participants for their valuable contributions toward biodiversity documentation and citizen science in Bhutan.
